Every day at Loop, we’re inviting five people to give short presentations, each offering a different take on music making. Like a good DJ set or an old-time variety show, 5 Takes will see sounds and stories gathered from different musical worlds and thrown together on stage.
These fifteen-minute mini-talks could include big-picture essays on the state of music, detailed analyses of songs and sounds, or frank confessionals about weird sonic obsessions. The five presentations will be delivered by the likes of Maria Chávez, Refik Anadol and Sudan Archives, among other composers, producers and songwriters. We’re also inviting a handful of Loop ticket holders to join them.
It doesn’t really matter what they speak about, as long as it concerns making music and takes no longer 15 minutes to explain. Beyond that, we’d prefer not to spoil the surprise. All you need is an open mind and a short attention span; we’ll provide the people and ideas; and the stage manager with her eye on the stopwatch.
